Dear friends,
I think that I’ve finally found the type of social network that I like and need. It’s The IndieWeb, which “is a community of independent & personal websites connected by simple standards, based on the principles of: owning your domain & using it as your primary identity, publishing on your own site (optionally syndicating elsewhere), and owning your data.” You can read a short summary about it on Wikipedia, too.
Why do I think it’s a great place for me?
Well, because:
- I can use my domain;
- I can cross-post to Mastodon and Pixelfed;
- I can have my own social media and blog in the same place;
- I can make automatic backups to the Internet Archive and to GitHub;
- I can use Markdown
- I love the spirit and the community!
